DDR RAM question

I got one of the new DP 867 boxes which uses DDR ram. Do I have to use DDR ram? Can I get some of the cheap stuff? For example, ramjet.com has the DDR at 3X the cost of the other RAM. This is crazy, especially since there currently is no real advantage on the Mac to using DDR.

Can I mix RAM types? Can I dump the DDR and put in older style only?

Help save me some cash!

The motherboard on your ppc only supports DDR ram, it will not support regular Sdram. The pin layout is different and it wouldn't even fit correctly on your board. DDR ram should only be a little more than sdram. You may want to try to get it from a PC vendor or www.crucial.com they sell it rather cheap compared to sites that specialize in "apple" ram. As long as the specs of the ram match, it doesn't really matter where you get it from. I'd however get it froma reputable company, such as Crucial, or Micron.
