I have a problem with my sister's iMac DV SE. She went to turn it on the other day, the power button flickered on for a second and then nothing happened. I checked the power cord and tried again, and still, it won't turn on. You could very faintly hear the CRT start to turn on but only for half a second.
I opened it up and replaced the battery on the logic board, found it had a date of July 2001 on it but iMac still won't turn on. I read that it might be the flyback transformer or the power supply that went bad. Should I totally take it apart to see if it's true or is it finally time to say goodbye to the good old machine?
