help!
im so so with computors, but im very accident proan, and i dont know what to do in this situation.
i had to shut down my mac manualy, since a program was not reponding to anything else, now when i start it, it shuts down during start up, at the grey apple page
im also running bootcamp, and my windows side seems to work fine!
ive tryed to start it in safe mode (holding down shift) but it does the same...
any suggestions to hold me over till i can get it to the shop??

thx nicole.

Something is not right in the OS installation itself and you need to run disk utility on the machine. Insert the Installation DVD and press C while starting up. When the installation screen appears, go to the Apple and choose Disk Utility and try to repair the disk.

If you don't have the Install DVD you could try it in (a slightly scary) single user mode. Hold down CMD and S at startup and you go into a black screen. Follow the instructions to run FSCK (you may need to use sudo in front of the command - I don't remember exactly. Try without, but if it doesn't do anything try typing sudo (and a space) infront of of the rest of the command. Then give it the password for an admin account on the machine.)
