Dead Speaker, even if headphones are unplugged, Powerbook

My PB G4 speakers are dead, as if speakers were connected. headphones work fine though.

I can see this in
System Preferences > Sound > Output> Headphones, Built-in Audio

if headphones are unplugged it doesn´t change to "Speakers built-in" or whatever it should say.

Does anyone know where the switch is, or has anyone fiddled around with that?
