DECIFER this kernel panic, Please?

OK, CAN ANYBODY TELL ME WHAT THIS KERNEL PANIC MEANS? (this is one of several that I've had since going 'jaguar' - never had one in 10.1.x)
I've done 3 clean installs on my machine since Saturday:

Seems like there is a SCSI device that Jaguar doesn't like.
Try disconnecting your SCSI devices, and look which one it is.
 
Thanks, but I don't have any SCSI devices... weird. I have 3 IDE hard drives. I have a Sonnett ATA100 card and a Belkin USB card.

I think it may be my RAM. I have two 512MB dimms from Kingston & one 512MB dimm from Crucial.
 
Do you get this often? I have never used Kingston, but I have one 128 meg Apple DIMM, one 256 meg Crucial DIMM, and one 512 meg DIMM from Mac Solutions. No problems.

FWIW....
 
Well, I took the Kingston memory out last night & I haven't had a kernel panic since. When the kingston memory was in, I would get the kernel panic several times a day.
 
It was just a thought, but it sounds like you did a reasonable process of elimination. I guess it's worth a shot switching DIMMS, but chances are, from what you said, the Kingston DIMM is the culprit.
 
I had the exact same problem when I first installed 10.1...

Yanked RAM out, fixed the problem.

Trick is figuring out which RAM module is the culprit.

But it sounds like you found it.
 
Interesting. I have 768MB of RAM in my CRT iMac, all purchased from coastmemory.com because they had the lowest prices I could find anywhere. It's worked perfectly, even back during that infamous RAM-destroying firmwear update in 2000.

Btw, what I meant by switching was simply changing the positions of the DIMMS. Sometimes that works.
 
I tried switching the DIMMS around, using just the Kingston RAM, using just the Crucial RAM and using just the Apple RAM. I still get kernel panics.

I checked with our Mac admin here at work & he seems to think that it might be device related because of all of the IO errors. So, the only thing I can think of is that I might have some problems with the the Pioneer dvr-103 drive I put into my quicksilver 733.

I noticed that the last couple times I got the kernel panic it happened right when I double clicked to open the cd, or double clicked on a window showing the cd's contents after the cd had been sitting in the drive for a while.
 
unfortunately, it occurred with and without the Kingston RAM in my tests last night.

Do you know if there are any issues with the Sonnett ATA100 card or the Belkin USB PCI card?

Also, my computer icon shows up as an lcd iMac. Should it show up as a Quicksilver (which is what I have)?

That is the way it is with 10.2 my B&W G3 shows up the same way. You can hack into the system files and replace the icons if you really want to... but there is no problem with it being the LCD iMac
 
No prob. Check out all the icon sites. There are tons of QuickSilver icons around. I ended up liking the Snow Apple logo the best for the Finder.
