Delete from a shared folder

Making Design taste good
I have a rather odd problem:

There were two users on my ibook. The administrator and the one I created.
I transferred everything on the admin.'s desktop to the shared folder so I would not lose files. I then made the user I created the Admin. and deleted the current admin. I put everything in the shared folder on my new desktop and then put everything in the shared folder in the trash. The thing is it will not let me put them in the trash because it says "they do not belong to me" and hence cannot be thrown away. I still have the other user in the deleted user folder. Any thoughts on how to clean out my shared folder?

Also: When you run OSX Tiger how do you do a clean install and not just run an upgrade?

part 1: choose the folder you wish to delete and the hit apple+i (or get info from the File menu) at the bottom of the info window, you can change the ownership on that folder. If you click on the "Details" sub-tab you'll see an option at the bottom that says "Apply to enclosed items". hit that.

part 2: After the Liscense agreement, once you select your destination drive, click on "Options" instead of "continue"
