Deleted parts of entourage database

I deleted parts of the Entourage database and now my Entourage email isn't working. I now realize this was dumb to do, but someone was reading my emails on by accessing the database through textedit and I got mad and deleted some of the information there.

Please tell me there is a way to get my email back up and running. I am assuming that I will need to somehow save what is left of the database so I can retain the addresses that I have gathered over the years, but I don't know what I should be doing to make this nightmare disappear.

Sounds like you need to rebuild your database.

Step 1: IMPORTANT! Open Entourage, and select "Turn Off Office Notifications" from the Entourage menu in the menubar. Quit Entourage.

Step 2: Start Entourage while holding down the Option key. (hold down option, then start Entourage) This will launch the database utility (keep option held until this comes up). From there, you can choose to Verify, Compact or Rebuild your database.

If that doesn't work, then it's possible you've done irrepairable damage to your database, in which case, it's time to start fresh. Sorry to say it.
