Deleting system owned files?

Hey people. (First ever post here!)
I;m just curious but is there any way that I can delete files owned by the system? I deleted a user and it asked me who sill take control of the deleted users files. I picked "System Administrator" thinking that it was me, but lo and behold, it wasn't! Help me please!:confused:
 
I would download an application called BatChmod. It will allow you to change the ownership of files and folders. Or you can use terminal to do it.
