Hi

I have somehow got a desktop icon (folder) inside my user folder.

It doesn't appear to be an alias as there is no arrow.

I am not sure how to get rid of this. If i delete the icon will I lose all my desktop folders?

any suggestions appreciated.

maybe i'm wrong, but i think that it's normal to have a desktop folder in your user's folder.... it means that it's YOUR desktop folder, if you creaate a new user account you will find a new desktop, with what the new user wants on it...

Also keef, do not ever go into the harddrive folder thingy and change the name of your home directory in the users folder. I did this and ended up reformating my whole mac. Sorry for going abit off the topic here but i thought you just might want to know.

I would recommend not changing the name of any folder on the hard drive, unless you specifically created the folder yourself. I would also recommend not moving any application out of the default "Applications" folder.

OS X is a lot less forgiving when you try to modify the directory structure of the hard drive. Leave OS X as it is and work with the folders you've been given, otherwise, problems are sure to turn up.
