Desktop Patterns

Hello,

Could someone please tell me where to get the old Mac OS Classic desktop patterns that will work on OS X?

You know the ones with the smiley Mac OS face among others.

'.../System Folder/Appearance/Desktop Pictures/'.

The 'Mac OS Background' JPEG file is in the '.../System Folder/Appearance/Desktop Pictures/Photos/' folder.

I checked in this location, but there is no Desktop Pictures folder. I ran Classic (because I'm not sure if I ever have since my rebuild), just to make sure it is not somehow created the first time it is run, and it's not.
 
'/System Folder/Appearance/Desktop Pictures/' and 'Desktop Pictures' folders: '3D Graphics', 'Photos', 'Ensemble Pictures', and 'Convergency' are created during 'System 9's installation process; not as a result of booting to 'System 9.x'.

I just installed 'System 9.1' (with 'Finder' v. 9.1) and confirmed the above statement.

So this is an OS 9 installation, not Classic in OS X?
 
Correct. Classic will just install a.. framework to run classic apps. OS 9 is designed to be the main OS, so it comes with desktop pics and all.
 
GlennHalloran, you are asking where you can download OS9 backgrounds? I have been wondering the same. I liked the background that all was all blue, with the finder smily face scattered around.
I do not know where you can get those, if you find out would you be so kind as to let me know!!! Thanxs.

If I remember correctly, the color of the embossed smiley pattern that was in OS 8.5 and greater before OS X is a lavender color, not blue. That one was a nice one.

Hopefully that helps in locating the correct image.... :)
