Dia-up woes in 10.1.5

I have a problem using a dial-up connection in OS X 10.1.5. I can connect fine and everything works perfectly - once. After I disconnect, every connection after that does not work until I restart. After a restart it works fine again.

Anybody know what's going on? Any process I can restart or something like that instead of rebooting the whole machine?

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you looked to see if any Network prefs have been changed? Might be worth throwing away your Networking prefs file anyway and re-entering a new one (might be slightly corrupted?)

Something else: get 10.2.3. I have just upgraded to 10.2 because 10.1.5 would not start up and I finally could not hold out any longer. WELL worth it; much much quicker and slicker!
Might fix your probs, too :)
 
Icon, I had a similar problem to yours when I was running 10.1.x. There was a .kext floating around that solved it. Do a search for PPP connection issues on this site and it should take you to some different threads that discuss the problem and have a link to the .kext.
