Did Apple Change the Rules of Battery Calibration?

I'm about to receive a battery replacement for my iBook G4, whose battery was recalled. When I first bought my iBook, I read about battery calibration. Apple literature said to plug it in before you use it until it's fully charged, then use it and drain all the battery juice out of it and let it go to sleep. Then plug it in and fully charge it again. The battery is now calibrated.

However, my parents' new MacBook literature said basically the same thing as above, the only difference was that it said to plug it in before you use it and after it's fully charged (when you see that green light), to not use it for at least two hours--to leave it plugged in for at least two hours after fully charged. Then, you can use it.

My question is: When my new iBook battery arrives, how should I calibrate it? Will calibration instructions come with this battery replacement or will it just be a battery in a box?

As you've noticed, Amie, Apple changed the information for the _MacBooks_. That doesn't mean it's changed for the iBooks. DeltaMac's linked article explains it for every model, but simply do as you did with your old battery.

Yes, I did notice that. And I didn't know if they also changed it for the iBooks. Hence my post. :)

And hence my reply. That Apple doc really contains all the info needed. No changes for iBooks.

What are YOU rolling your eyes at? I asked a question. If you're not going to post a read-worthy reply, don't post. :p

It was an answer. It's a battery in a box with no documentation other than instructions on how to discharge and return the old battery.

Oh, OK. 'Cause for a second there I thought you were just being sarcastic. ;)
