Did I make the right choice?

I just bought a G4/700 iMac two days ago and waiting for it to be delivered. Anyway I wanted to use it for music production. I attended school for it a few months ago, and in the beginning they were using G4/700 Towers which handled production very good. That's why I decided to get it, but I don't know if there is a difference between them. They now use those new G5 iMacs now. I just wanted to know if the G4/700 iMac is good or not. Oh, and the G4 I'm getting comes with 10.4 Tiger.

Sounds to me like this is a Mac thread. The Café is for _non_ Apple threads. But I can't decide where I should move it. Design/Media? Hardware? Any thoughts? Café's wrong...

Well, it's a hard thing to tell. What are you going to do with it? A 700MHz iMac G4 will put you below a 1GHz eMac, which I found to be somewhat adequate for movie work, and a lot more adequate for graphic design and photography. Your iMac isn't going to run like a new Intel Mac, but it'll work for pictures, movies under 720p, etc.

Oh, just caught the music production thing. Sorry. If you're using Ableton Live, plan on getting about 3 or 4 simultaneous tracks at a time. I don't know what you're doing, but the iMac could probably handle a couple live inputs and a couple outputs. Garageband would run alright on it I figure... no clue how Logic would run, if at all.
