installed mac os x 10.4 Tiger. could not launch mac os 9 applications. would get the following error..."classic cannot find mac os 9 system folder on the staryup disk to use". right now that error is the least of my problems. trying to troubleshoot this i inadvertenly changed some "classic" settings under system preferences, for instance, start classic at log on, etc. now when i try to re-boot the machine it just hangs. i believe because i changed the classic settings it is going out trying to start classic at statup, can't find the mac os 9 system folder and is just hanging.

anyone have any suggestions? re-install mac os x perhaps? can i change the classis system preferences by using some kind of utility program on the installation cd?

you will find classic on the original disks that came with your computer. they aren't on the tiger disks, as that is only tiger (no iLife, no Classic etc).

if you hold shift while booting, then it'll boot into safe mode, which will not load the login items (classic included). go into classic preferences, turn off launch classic at login.

on the original system disks, install classic.
