Digital Video Editing

Hi..

I've been in the IT business for quite awhile, however I've recently been handed a job offer as the video coordinator in our college's football program (fairly large program, one of nation's top division II football teams.)

Although I've done very little, if any video work.

I have about 3-4 months to really learn it, they won't want anything major, duplicating tapes, some film editing, etc.

Any opinions on how to learn this? books? classes, etc?

Tool of the trade: A Mac
I am a producer and use 2 macs for just video and production work. 1 is all you will ever need for your situation it sounds. Just get Final Cut Express for editing and your set. If you need a camera I recommend the Canon XL1. It has everything you need. Since you are doing sports I recomend getting a few different lenses. The XL1 has many choices of interchangable lenses.

XL1>Final Cut>DVD>Happy Client
