Hi,
I can't find does ever someone found some workaround on this; I'd like to use F-keys directly on my Powerbook, not having to press FN key + F key at the same time. Is is possible to do it without installing some thirdparty software for remaping keyboard??
Oh, I assume that after such change brightness and volume controls would be available usin FN + F-key?

Yes, the option resides within the System Preferences under Keyboard & Mouse. I forget which tab under that option, but it's there and you can reverse how the function works just as you described above. No 3rd party tools required.
