direct connect ok but no internet

I moved my G4 about 40ft and when I reconnected everything it does not recognize my ethernet connection to my router.

I've tried everything I can think of including:
Connected cable to another computer and I get an IP address and internet works fine.
Connected problem computer and laptop directly via ethernet cable, both get self assigned IP addresses and I can connect, drag files, etc.
Power cycled everything-no luck.
Made sure Built In Ethernet was at the top of the stack in Port Configurations.
Connected G4 directly to cable modem via ethernet cable, no internet-still says the cable is not plugged in.
I've deleted prefs, network settings folder, etc.

When I start the G4, the only thing in Network Status is Internal Modem, no Built in Ethernet. If I plug in the ethernet cable nothing happens. If I Change from DHCP to manual or another, hit apply, Built In Ethernet shows up above Internal Modem but has red dot and says no cable is connected.

I am at my wits end with this. The computer was only down for about an hour during the move. I know the Ethernet port is fine as I am able to connect directly to another computer. It's just when I plug in for internet that it does not work.

Any, and I mean ANY suggestions are welcome.

Problem solved!!

It turns out that I had a crossover cable instead of a regular ethernet cable. When I plugged into my laptop is new enough and smart enough to detect that it was a crossover. My G4 was old enough that it wouldn't work.
I tried a new cable and everything is fine now. I guess the other cable I tried was a crossover too. All I know is everything is working now!!
