Disable auto-select

Hi - just getting used to my new macbook pro. Mostly been a desktop user on Doze and linux but the mac experience has been great so far.

There is a little annoying feature and I wonder if anyone can help me. If I leave the cursor on top of a link, it automatically selects/launches/clicks the link - I guess I am not used to this and its a bit irritating. Can someone let me know how I can turn that off..

Erh... It shouldn't be like that. Unless you have activated tapping on the trackpad as a mouseclick and somehow did that (tapping on the link)...

Thanks Fryke. I do have tapping on trackpad as a mouse click.. but I definitely did not tap on the link - I will turn off tap on trackpad and see if the behaviour changes.

OK - here is an update for those who may have a similar problem.
Following fryke's suggestion, i took a fresh look at the trackpad preferences. I had pushed the double click time to the right (Fast). I pushed it to the left and did not have an u.nintentional select all day today.

My guess is, if set to too fast, as I slide my finger on the trackpad, even the minor jerk/vibration was getting picked as a double click... thats only my guess. It works fine now. Thanks again fryke
