disappearing cursor

Hello,
I am runnning both classic and OS X 10.2.8 on a G4. In all applications my cursor disappears. If I close the application the cursor comes back, but it disappears again if I relaunch the app. I must restart, but then it still disappears again!
I have repaired permissions and zapped the pram. It's very frustrating!
Thanks

Just using the applications, Quark, Outlook, Photoshop, Illustrator. I'll be doing all different things, there's no pattern

When you say the "cursor", do you mean the blinking line that shows where you've been typing, or the mouse pointer? Sometimes people use "cursor" and "pointer" interchangeably, but the "cursor" is really the blinking line and the "pointer" is the arrow.

If you really mean the cursor, does the pointer also disappear when within the application window as well, or is it just the cursor? And if you mean the pointer, are you using any custom pointer software on your Mac?

There are similar threads on this same issue on other sites, but no solution:

http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?p=180746#post180746

Again, in these threads, it's hard to tell if they're really talking about the cursor or the pointer (I suspect the latter).

In that case, have you tried shutting down, disconnecting the Wacom Tablet, rebooting, and using the trackpad instead to see if the problem is still there?

Everytime I use the selection tool in Photoshop CS2, and create a selection (ie, draw a box with the marquis tool) I can't see the marquis tool anymore. I just have to click at random. WEird.
