disc burning problem

I use the app iBackup monthly since my total needed files are under a CD in size (590M).
Every now and then (like now), Finder says I need a disc double the size of the file (or thereabouts) to Burn to. The CDRWs are 650M.

Eventually, it burns, later that day or week or whatever. I've repaired perms.
This has happened with several different boxes. Currently a dual core 2G.
Everything else about it is fine.

ideas?

nope, it just seems like even thought the actual file size is 590M, Finder thinks it's bigger when it comes time to burn. I haven't gotten any further then a warning that says "' will require a disc capable of storing 1.0x G'"

Ah! What did you do before the problem started and what have you done if you have done anything to fix it?

nothing that I'm aware of other then update the new dual core with all the latest Apple updates. after I repaired perms and last light I ran Onyx.
as of this morning Finder says I need a 702M disc to drop the iBackup folder onto even though it is 575M in size.
TDK and Imation 4x CDRW.
I redid the folder from iBackup. Now it's 565M. Still says it won't fit.

Burns fine in iTunes with same discs.

someone at XLR8 suggested trying the burn with Toast as Finder has problems estimating size for burns.
He was right, just burned my 2nd copy with Toast, NP.
I sent the Leader and his minions a bug report.
