Disk copy is crap.

I am not very impressed with disk copy. I think it is hard to use and understand. My bigest pet peeve, maybe someone can help out here. When creating an image from a device it lists all devices as disk0, disk1, etc.. How am I supposed to know which disk is which without opening the terminal?

Man, do i disagree. Disk Copy RULES! Maybe there are other tools out there that do the same things, but I just love it that OS X has it built-in.

As for the disk0/disk1 thing, without being in front of my Mac, I can't be sure, but doesn't it list the sizes? I've never had a problem figuring out which was which (but I only have HDD and CD-ROM).

I have 3 hard drives, CDRW, DVD RAM, ZIP, Flash Card, and 1 or 2 images mounted at all times. The Zip drive is the only one not in all the time. So you can imagine what diskcopy can look like. If it did display the size I could live with that but it doesnt to my knowledge. it doesnt seem very macish, why cant it display the given names of the volumes instead of the disk number. On top of that it cant erase CDRW's.

Well, I can see how that can be a nuisance.

If you were to figure it all out using Terminal, would you ever have to redo it? I mean, couldn't you must make a note of what's what once and for all? Or do those designations change? (I'm revealing my ignorance here. . . :) )

Just to let ya know, Disc Copy in Jaguar lists the names of the drives as well, which helps quite a bit! :)
