Disk repair?

Hi 1st time on the forum - so hello to you all.

I've just run Onyx on my Mac book pro 2.16 - Os 10.4.10 and it has come up with an error on the start up disk Error 1 9972 . I search for this on Google and onyx said to run the install disk and go to disk repair. I've run the disk both of them and can't find disk repair anywhere.

Can anyone help me with this - is it a serious problem?

Hi and Welcome. You need to boot from your install DVD/CD and when you get to the first screen after the language selection you should see Tools in the menu bar. Select Disk Utility. You can then select the partition with the error and repair it.
