Disssable a processor?

Is it possible to dissable a processor in OS X?

I was reading another form, that told me to run a few Terminal commmands that simply said hw.activecpu and hw.ncpu were read-only.

On that form they also suggested TinkerTool from MacUpdate.com, but I do not currently see the option.

For anyone wondering why I am wanting to do this, I have a Dual 500 G4 Gigibit Ethernet machine i want to test multi-processor benchmarking!

Install the developer tools and that will give you an icon under "other" in in system preferences. You can then use that to turn of one of the processors on the fly. It will even let you put a little doodad up on the menu bar so you can do it at will.

Edit: The icon looks like a little processor chip.

Score and a half for you sir. Thanks!
