profx
ill never 4get watsisname
Hi,
I am trying to figure out how to set up a intranet style DNS server.
i played around with bind v8 via the webmin interface but had no luck.
Then i remembered netinfo. Perfect - well almost. I duplicated the localhost entry under machines and renamed it to profx, saved the entry and went to safari and entered http://profx/ and it works a treat.
I then set up an apache virtual host (in webmin - so easy!) to pick up requests to http://profx/ and set the document root to my sites directory in my home dir.
Refreshed safari perfect -exactly what i wanted to see!
This technique works perfectly for local sites but other computers don't know of this...
Heres the hard bit - how do i get other machines (mac or pc) to recognise that the host name profx exists?
Can bind be set up to read the netinfo database? If so how? Then i guess all that would be required is that all hosts on the network have my ip to be able to access the dns server on my machine.
