Dock Freezes

My dock freezes a couple of times a day, and the only thing that unfreezes it is to push the power button(shuting down will not work). I have tried deleting com.apple.dock.plist but to no avail. I cannot restart the dock through terminal or activity monitor. However, I can open applications through the hard drive but it runs terribly slow while the dock is frozen. I have run TechTool Deluxe and everything checks out. I hadn't installed anything new right around when the problems began and it has been about 2 weeks. Please help. Thanks

Dual 867 MHz PowerPC G4 1 MB L3 cache per processor Mac OS X (10.4.8) 1.25 GB RAM
 
Does this happen even when you don't do any other things to the dock? Also have you installed any extra system hacks for custom view or anything similar?
 
Then download the System maintenance Utility Yasu and in the program run all the tasks. See if this system maintenance helps. Good Luck.
