Dock

I have os 10.4 and question marks on the dock for programs. I delete them, replace them with good ones, reboot and I revert to the old question mark dock. Also changes I make in System Preferences > Dock don't stick afteer reboot.

Help?
 
roy-How do you replace them-I think proper way is to highlite-click on the question mark and pop up says remove from dock--Then go into your apps folder in hd>find app. you want to put in dock and drag it to the dock location you want to put it. Then click and hold on the icon and popup asks if you want to keep in dock? say yes and this should work-it does for me. Hope it works for you!
