does anyone know how to log in as solely test mode?

is there a way to log into os x solely in the terminal. i think it would be cool to have just atext-based os when you want... anyone have any answers?

You can just boot into single user mode by holding down "s" at startup, or if u prefer, just hold down "v" and then login as >console at the login screen. Probably as close as you're going to get without dedicating a partition to only Darwin.

If u want to log in as text only (it does not load quartz), type ">console" as your login. Quartz will quit, then it will ask you for your login. After you typed in your login and pw, you will be presented with "Welcome to Darwin"......
