Does Panther come with dev tools

Yeh... it's called Xbox.

EDIT: Sorry... it's called Xcode... I ordered my Xbox and wont be getting it til next monday... I WANT IT NOW.

Mr. Linky wi help you learn about Xcode. All you need to do is click Mr. Linky.

Mr. Linky

It uses gcc 3.3 by default, btw, though you can go back to gcc 3.1 (included) or go back to 2.95 (download from ADC) if needed.

I'm not much more impressed with XCode as an IDE than Developer Tools (it's basically just a somewhat upgraded Dev Tools, from what I can tell), which isn't much. However, I don't really build any REAL OS X apps with it, so I'm probably missing out on a lot of features.

The July/December 2002 Dev Tools will also install on 10.3

Mr. Linky... LOL

Plazman, check out Apple's website for the WWDC Keynote Address in which Steve Jobs & friends talk all about Panther and the G5. They explain what Xcode's all about in it.

The builds come in several CD's:
CD 1 is the one you boot and install from
CD 2 holds additional packages
CD 3 holds Xcode

The latest Xcode version was 7B85 AFAIK and the final version will be made available at the ADC site once Panther comes out.

Traditionally the Power* machines ship with the dev-tools installed, so I suppose once Apple starts shipping PowerMacs and PowerBooks with Panther, they will pre-install Xcode.

Correction: the devtools will be on the drive, but not already installed. There is a directory in Applications which holds the installer packages.

not exactly

CD 1 is the one you boot and install from
CD 2 holds additional packages
CD 3 holds other additional packages
CD 4 holds Xcode

and the latest xcode is the same as in 7b80.
