Does your national apple store toll free number work on a public phone

I recently had to order whilst not at home. No problem, I picked up the first public telephone I found and dialed the apple store number.

Surprise, a computer voice answered back saying that the phone I was using was not authorized to call the apple store number.

Seems that the 0800 845 123 number for the Swiss apple store does not work on swiss public phones.

Anyone notice the same elsewhere?

The same may be true for any Toll-free calls. That public phone may not allow any Toll-free calls to anywhere, outside of the phone company.

I remember in Finland some of the old pay phones (gosh I don't think there are any left ;-)) would only let you call a 0800 number for like 3 minutes before disconnecting you. Others would charge you like it was a local call, gotta pay that PPM!
