dot-underscore files when copying from os x to pc

Whenever we try and copy files from os x to a pc (win xp) we always get additional files that are named the same thing, except with a ._ at the beginning of it, and it is ghosted out. So if i copy a file named "1.jpg" from a mac over to the pc, there looks like there is two files, "1.jpg" and "._1.jpg". The ._ files are useless to the pc. As there any way to stop this?

No. It's a part of the way OS X handles UNIX files, Mac resource forks, and metadata. I believe the ._ files contain much of the file's metadata. They're a necessary evil. MS could do something unlazy and have Windows hide them by default, but, have you ever heard the old saying about the sow's ear?
