When I delete a mail from my dotmac on the internet it deletes the mail from mail.app, how can I set it so the mails are downloaded to mail.app and don't disapear if deleted from the the web access?

No, I just click the plus button in accounts and selected .mac account and entered my logon details.

So do I have to set the .mac account up as imap for it to keep the mails in mail.app even when deleted from the .mac webpage?

If you want mail to remain on your Mac, open Apple Mail PREFERENCES.

Select your account and choose the minus (delete) button in the bottom left hand corner.

Then click on the + (new account) and select POP instead of .Mac, IMAP or Exchange. Complete the rest of the details.

Any mail you had on your server should be preserved and will re-appear.

Now anytime you delete a message on the .mac web site, your messages in your Apple Mail programme should remain where they are.
