I have 10 drives on my G4, 2 SCSI, 2 ATA, 6 FireWire. 8 of the had become 2 volumenames (from whre?) ex. /Volume/data and /volume/data 1/
Where generate this volume names whith the 1(ones)?

i've had that problem myself lately. and the most confusing part is that the one with the 1 turns out to be the right one.

anybody?

It happens when autodiskmount "forgets" to delete the folder that the drive is mounted on when it unmounts it, so the next time it goes to mount that drive, it'll stick a 1 (or 2 or whatever) after the name because a folder with that name already exists.

To fix it, delete the folder with the normal name - next time the drive is unmounted, it should get mounted back under the normal name.

As to why this happens, I don't have a clue. Some bug, I would guess. I've seen it happen to me a few times, but not very often.

i think it must be one of those things that it only checks on periodically. it seems to go away by itself after awhile.
