Draft email can't be deleted

I am running OS 10.5.4. The problem is with Apple email.

I have one draft message that refuses to be deleted. When I highlight it and hit delete, it just turns grey and does not delete..... I can add new drafts and delete them just fine.... any ideas?????? I have tried clearing the user cache to no avail......

Log in to your mail service using webmail, and delete the persistent message from there.
