Drifting Audio Balance

This is extremely weird, and just as annoying. On my iBook, pretty much since the first version of OS X, the audio balance will reset itself off center making things sound horrible. I can go and change it, but like clockwork, it will be off again in a few days. Today, it was almost completely at the left. Is this an OS issue, or is there some keystroke for balance adjustment that I keep hitting?

I'm right there with you! I've got a 17" PB, and I've noticed the same thing. Sometimes it happens daily, other times it'll go a few weeks before it's all the way to one side.

gotta be some kinda bug, because I rarely do anything to change my sound settings.

anyone got some answers???

Heh. Mine always goes just halfway to the right, so i feel like I'm going deaf in my left ear. Then, I check the sound prefs and rejoice that I'm not going daft.

Weird. Mine always heads left. I'm tempted to just chmod a-w the sound prefs file, like the a-x fix_prebinding I did (long story,) but then I wouldn't be able to change the volume. Argh. Too bad you can't change permissions on byte ranges inside the file.
