Driver for Acer Vuego 620U

Hi. I was wondering if there was a free driver for the above scanner. Benq (formerly Acer Peripherals) does not have a driver for the 620U for OS X.

Vuescan will work but requires me to pay $39.95 (about NZ$80) - I could almost buy a new scanner for that price. I was wondering - if Vuescan can access the scanner, would there not be a free driver available?

Any help will be great:)
 
You are looking for TWAIN SANE support. This is an opensource project to develop drivers for TWAIN-compatible scanners and other peripherals. Some Benq scanners are supported, but it appears that your model in not.

Thanks for that. I looked up the TWAIN SANE project and my scanner is supported from the looks of it - just have to work out the technical issues of installing the firmware. Wish me luck guys! I'll report back with news on how well it works.
