dual booting

hello people,
this is my first post here, so please bear with me...

i've been using windows for the last 15 years (I'm 22 BTW), and i'm considering a switch, I got my self MAC OS X tiger 10.4.5 for intel , since i cant afford a new mac...

the question is: can I dual boot win xp with OS x, just like the way i dual boot win xp with win 98....or the os x must be the only OS on my pc

since i share the PC with few other people, who are not willing to switch, i have to keep both win xp and os x...is that possible

and if that possible, do I have to install the mac os x on hardware drive D:,,,,or i can put it anyware i like (preferably) ...

No offense, but I expect to see ths thread closed because currently, there's no way to purchase Mac OS X for Intel unless it's with a new Intel-based Mac. The only version for purchase is the PowerPC version. If somehow you have one that works on Intel, then either you acquired it from someone with an Intel Mac or from a hacked ISO from the developer kit, both of which are illegal. Whatever you might think about that, it's still against the board rules which you should have checked when you joined.

Aside from that, the idea that the Mac is expensive is a myth. If you want a new Intel Mac, there's always the Mac mini which is quite affordable, and it can run Windows using Boot Camp. That way everyone is happy with OS X and Windows. Or you can all pitch-in and purchase a higher end iMac and do the same. So far, the Intel Macs have proven to not only run OS X great, but they're faster at even running Windows! Below is more information about Boot Camp.

Even if they do seem to be more expensive, you can get an older PowerPC Mac for quite cheap. Don't believe me? Check out the following link for an example:

I've used the iMac DV that was mentioned in the article at my place of work with Mac OS X and it runs quite well for an older Mac. You can also find some decent Power Mac G4 systems at a good price.
