Dual Monitors???

I have a G4 with a NVIDIA GeForce2 MX video card. It has a vga (which I am currently using) and an adc. If I were to get a flat panel and use the adc, could I still use my 17" connected to the vga at the same time?

Thanks for any help.

There was one other question I forgot to ask. Will the monitors just mirror each other or can they be one continuous desktop?

Once you go dual display, you will never go back! You will love it. I have had dual monitors for 3 years and it makes my computer so much more useful. I may be a pig, because now I am using dual monitors with multiple desktops via Codeteck Virtual Desktop. I have 2 monitors and six desktops - that's essentially 12 screens for all my apps (plus, OS X can handle multiple apps better than any other OS). In truth, I really only use about 3 desktops, but what the heck.

You can do so much - for example email on one monitor, your browser on the other, BBEdit on one, browser on another, finder windows in one, some app in the other, two browser windows full screen, two views of the same doc in Word... Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, Director, Dreamweaver - or any app with lots of windows suddenly becomes a lot more powerful and usable. The list goes on and on. I'm excited for you - man, do I need a life or what? :)

Yes, yes you do. ;)

I too, know the thrill of running multiple monitors. Having had two PowerBooks so far, I love being able to treat my computer like two computers when I need to. The only real problem with multiple monitors is that you then feel obligated to use matching desktop pictures.... it's a horrible predicament... oh well. Somehow, I think we'll all survive, eh? :D

True, this is a difficult burden to bear! :) Lately I have been using high resolution pics of various national parks and have been running two different though related images (this week, two scenes from Glacier National Park). Then again, I think we all agree I do need a hobby!:p

did anyone of you guys try powerpoint on dual screens?
I actually started a new thread for this, and than I bumped on this one...

I just did - good idea! I can have my presentation running full screen on my first monitor and have a second window (from new window option in View) in my other monitor (any other view - even slide sorter). I can make edits in this second window and it immediately updated the full screen view - text/images in a slide, resorting slides... Kind of cool and actually is very useful I think!

I think powerpoint is too dumb for this - you can view notes on one monitor and the pres full screen on another, but as you move through slides in the full screen, the other does not follow - it just stays on whatever slide you had shown in that view. You would have to advance the slides in both views simultaneously to do what you want to do - hardly the thing you want to do while speaking!

Dual monitor or not, this whole thing is lousy. Of course you could print your notes, but isn't the point to use the computer and not fumble with both the computer and a pile of paper?
