DVD devices compatibility

Hi all

I'm new in the Mac World.
I wonder if I can place any DVD+/- RW drive into a Mac computer. Are they compatible normaly?
If not, does somebody know where I can find a list with supported devices for internal DVD drives?

Not all DVD drives are compatible with Mac OS X. I do know that most of the Pioneer line of DVR-11* drives are compatible.

If you do happen to run across a drive that isn't compatible, PatchBurn may help to make it compatible.
