DVD drive

I change out my dvd drive in my g4 to a dvd writer, now when you do a system check it will and does not show the dvd drive. I took that one out and put back in the one that was working which was just a dvd player, can anyone help me find out why i cant see the drive thanks

What brand and model of drive is it? What model of Macintosh do you have? Did you jumper the new drive correctly?

Please elaborate. You have given us very little to try and diagnose your situation -- we only know you've got some kind of G4 and some kind of DVD burner drive and they don't work.
