Help Please!!!!!

I have an older ibook (clamshell model G3) with Mac osX.
Last night I was snooping around a DVD/cdrom disc (U2 vertigo)
which was working. However when I went to watch an actual DVD I had only sound. My menu worked, everything worked except no picture. I tried different DVD's , but the same thing happened.

Thoughts????

When you say "My menu worked" I am assuming you mean the menu on the DVD disc itself and not the DVD player menu. So it is just the actual image from the movie that you not seeing?

I have not run across this before but you asked for thoughts so here goes:
  1. Be sure you have at least 15% to 20% free space on your hard drive.
  2. Boot from the install CD and run Disk Utility > Repair Disk to be sure your file system is healthy.
  3. Use Cocktail 3.5 or Onyx 1.3.1 to flush out all the system, internet, and user cache files. (The version numbers are important as those are the correct versions for Jaguar.)
  4. Delete com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist in /Users/youraccount/Library/Preferences/com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist
  5. Reapply the OS X 10.2.8 combo update then run Software update to be sure you have the most current version of Quicktime for your configuration
  6. Archive and install OS X 10.2 and run the OS X 10.2.8 combo updater.

clamshell G3 iBooks don't have drives capable of reading DVDs. They're CD-ROM only.
