Hello,
I am new Apple computers and was wondering if you could play DVDs on OSX? If so, what software is needed?

Thank-you,
jdog

DVD playback is not yet implemented on OS X.
There are alternative software DVD players (shareware/freeware on versiontracker.com)
that play DVDs in OS 9, and might work in OS X.
I have not really tried them since I spend most of my time in OS 9

Steve Jobs has promised that there will be a DVD player for Mac OS X soon. Just have to wait.

While it might be nice, there are no real shareware/freeware alternatives for Mac OS X. Well, at least not any that will allow you to play copy protected DVDs. If however, you are into cracking DVDs or playing "at home" recorded VD content, then they work just fine.

Ciao!

AdmiralAK was talking about players for os 9.1 *not* X. There are free/shareware programs for DVD playback for 9.1.
