I have rip a few movies using DVD Shrink I watch them on my PC, on my Macbook and on my regular dvd player connect it to my TV. The qulity of these rip DVD is exellent thanks to DVD Shrink. The problem I have I want to copy all these movies to an WD external hard drive and play them on my Macbook; well I was ale to copy to my WD hard drive but I couldn't play these movies on my macbook; somebody told me to download VLC, I did and I was able to play the movie on my macbook but the quality of the picture was terrible; the DVD file on the WD is 4.4GB the original size on the DVD; so finaly my question is why when I play the movie using VLC the quality of the video was so terrible, can some one give a tip as to what I'm doing wrong or what do I need to do to improve the quality of the play back DVD.
Thanks in advance
Sorry for the long explanation.....

Couldn't really tell you why VLC gave you a bad picture. However: Apple DVD Player should be able to open such a copied Video_TS folder as well. (There's a menu entry for it.)

Either way: For backing up DVDs to harddrives, I actually rip them using handbrake. Of course I end up with a transcoded file with a _little_ less quality, but it saves a whole lotta disk space.
