DVD problems

I have been given some files on a dvd which read fine on my G4 powerbook OSX10.45 - superdrive but will not read on my old g4 powermac 800 running 10.28

The old g4 reads and plays ordinary dvd's (films) - I have been told I may need a driver update - does this make sense. where could I get a driver update

Do you know the specific model of the powermac? You can find that by clicking the apple, clicking about this mac, more info, then look for the first field: machine name. Post what it says.

You can then use that to find what firmware update you need from here, if that's the problem.

ps I already had a look at this site but I couldn't really make out which model I had - imac or power book - sorry I'm not too good on this technical stuff. I just thought that DVD's played in DVD's but I'm obviously wrong!!

just tried to read through the apple stuff on the dvd drive.

machine reports: dvd rw gca 4020b
vendor: hl dt st
which means zip to me I'm afraid
