DVD-R write tme for 2X

I'm preparing to burn some 4.7 gig data discs and I have no idea how long this will take. Am I looking at hours?
 
I don't think so... it wasn't that slow on mine... but I don't know what speed it went at, and it was DVD-RWs
 
Ok, well can i add a .VolumeIcon to the disc to make my cutom icon show? Will that work like it does on CD-Rs and RWs? I still can't get the background image to stay on my CDs, i would love to have that saved on my DVD.
 
I burned a dvd full of mp3's and it took about 20 minutes. That was filling the 4.7 gig.

pretty fast, actually.

I was going to move my collection to a DVD, will it play like if it was coming off a MP# CD? No skips or anything like that? I will burn the DVD in our lab on campus, i just have a DVD Rom at home.
 
I burned my first DVD. :D Only problem is DVD Player likes to open when it mounts. The .VolumeIcon.icns worked and I was only allowed 4.4 gigs to be burned. I won't make too many of these, standards may change.
