looking into a issue for a friend of mine who has a ibook 12 inch

recently, he purchased a samsung 30 inch wide screen tv, which just so happened to have dvi in on it

he also has adelphia digital, but apparently adelphia doesnt support the dvi out on his box

my dual 1.8 G5 came with dvi out, but im not about to drag a 45 pound tower to his house for testing

so... can a ibook 12 inch do dvi out ? regardless of the resolution it may turn out to be, might be a nice adition to his system.

any help is appreciated

Simple answer is no.
The iBook has a mini-VGA out, using the adapter that shipped with the iBook. You can run this through a VGA-DVI adapter, but the TV will not display any better than can be viewed on the iBook internal display. Making that REALLY BIG on the TV may not give very good quality at all. The VGA-DVI conversion will not help, either.

You can buy a VGA-DVI adapter for $18 here. DeltaMac's advice is correct though, in that it won't work as well as you might expect.

You can get the firmware hack that enables desktop spanning, this will alow you to set a different resolution for the external monitor. This of course is a risk because (i think) it voids your warranty and could break your iBook.
