ECC memory and not

Hi,

I've got an iMac 450 DV+ with a non ECC SDRAM module in it. Can I add an ECC SDRAM module to use together with the non ECC one? Or Do I have to uset either type rather than mixing them?

TIA

I don't think that the iMac 450 DV+ supports ECC RAM, so in addition to not mixing them, I would stick with standard non-ECC SDRAM modules.

So how can I tell if it does or not? If I install it and it works, do we consider ECC supported by the iMac?

In the old days ECC used to have a couple of extra pins on it, if that is still the case then you may not even be able to put it in. (This is PentiumPro era info so salt to taste.)

I tried to put in the 512 MB SDRAM ECC in my iMac 450 DV+ and the thing didn't even boot. So now we know....
