editing DVD recorded from source TV etc

Hi,

I want to buy DVD recorder as an alternative to tape recorder. After recording I would like to edit out the commericials etc and burn the edited on DVD-R. I want to do all this without conversion and edit .vob files directly. Any suggesting on what software I need?

I am have PB G4 with 768Mb RAM and 80GB HD and 250GB External.

By far the easiest option is to check out something like MyTV, EskapeTV or Freevo. By simply hooking up a decent TV tuner and appropriate software to your Mac, you can easily edit video and burn to DVD.
