Editing mail headers

I am totally new to the Mac world. I would like to know if it is possible to
forward mail from another OS and then edit out the forwarding header
so the mail would look like it originally did on the old system. If so would
I have to get down into BSD and use EDT and work on the mail files.
Any help appreciated. Thanks.

This seams a tad bit too easy to be what you want, but I'll put it here anyway.

Using Mail.app:

Click on the email you wish to forward. Press the 'forward' button :-D. to edit the headers, just.. well.. edit them.

Also, and I think this is more alonge the lines of what you want, you can select a message and press apple-shift-e to forward email in-line, without any forwarding artafacts. This is called "Redirect" and is under the "Message" menu.

I guess I wasn't clear.

I have email on an old VMS system. I would like to bring it to my Mac but I want the headers to look as they did on the old system so I can store them
as I wish and retain or rebuild my mail filing structure.

If I forward them to the Mac they come in on the Mac with the header from
the VMS system and not the original senders address. There is obviously no
provision on the VMS system to forward without identifing the forwarder. If
I forward to myself as suggested and edit out the VMS header as suggested
I then have the new header from myself and still cannot file as I wish.

Any help?

Thanks,

heh guess I had that a bit backwards :-D

Well, you could try moving the files over and go from there. I've only had limited use of VMS systems, but it should be *somewhere* in your home directory.
