Eject key not working

I'm using Panther 7b85 in a G4 866. Te problema is thar the eject an sound volume keys don't work. In my iBook everything works fine.
Somebody told me tha could be a problem with font conflits (because Font Catalog loads also the fonts from mac OS 9). How do I test font conflits?

Do not press any keycombos for ejecting the CD or changing the sound-volume. For ejecting the CD JUST press F12 and hold it for a second.
Some ppl used to press fn+F12...
I never heard about any conflicts with the fonts...
 
Have you tried restarting?

Sometimes I lose the Command-Tab app switcher feature. A restart always seems to fix it right up…
 
Exactly same problem here. Full Cache Cleaning session, repairing permissions, zapping pram, fsck -f, nothing helped.
 
Goto: System->Library->CoreServices->MenuExtras. Doubeclick Eject.menu. At least you can open your CD Tray now.
