emac dial-up problems

Hi there

I recently gave my eMac to a friend since I now use an iBook G4. He doesn't have broadband so I had to try to set up a dial-up connection for him.

I entered all of his details in the right places and the connection worked fine but whenever I opened a browser (Safari or IE) the page remained blank. On Safari I was given the option of working through the network diagnostics and eventually had a full series of green lights and the message that I was connected to the internet but again nothing would appear on the page.

I have deleted all of the old settings from when the machine was here and the username, password and dial-up number are all correct and as I said the connection gets through fine, it's just that nothing happens after that.

Any ideas?

Did you include the DNS nameserver entries provided by the ISP? You'll need that to view websites using URLs instead of their actual IP addresses. The DNS nameservers handle the task of resolving the URL to the IP address of the web server.
